Name: Nikki (& Dipper) Schroder

From: Canberra, ACT

Volunteer Position: On the gate

Why did you volunteer at #ARC22?

Nikki has chosen to volunteer at #ARC22 as she believes “rowing is such an amazing sport” and she appreciates how much her children have gotten out of the sport. So much so, that she “really felt like [she] needed to give something back to the sport”. As a rowing mum, Nikki has also found that volunteering “keeps [her] distracted” so that she’s not quite as nervous when her children are rowing!

About Nikki (& Dipper)

Her son Damien is rowing with the Melbourne University Boat Club this week and has recently won gold in the Under 23 Lightweight Single Scull, leaving Nikki a very proud mum.

Nikki has been working hard this week, with shifts on the gate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. She has really enjoyed her role and hopes that she has provided those at #ARC22 with a “friendly face to start their day!”.

Luckily for Nikki, she has had some assistance from her young labradoodle, Dipper. This is Dipper’s second time volunteering at nationals at just 20 months old, a terrific effort.

A massive thank you to Nikki & Dipper for volunteering at #ARC22!
