Simone Burge ready to feed the troops at #ARC23

Name: Simone Burge

From: Swan River, WA

Position: Catering Manager

Club: Swan River Rowing Club (SRRC)

Why did you decide to be a Coles Supermarkets Volunteer at #ARC23?

Simone Burge is the backbone of the volunteer team here at #ARC23. Being the Catering Manager, Simone has the responsibility and pleasure of keeping all our volunteers well-fed and happy for the duration of the event.

“It’s such a great event, who wouldn’t want to be a part of it?,” Simone said. Thanks to our official partner, Coles, Simone is able to have breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea ready to go for our busy volunteer force.

About Simone:

Simone’s love for the sport began in her home country of South Africa. Simone loves “everything” about the sport, however, it’s the “crew comradery” that underpins her passion for rowing.

The highlight of her rowing career was when she competed in the African National Championships in 1990, where she raced in the Eights and Fours.

Simone is currently in the ninth year of the Master’s Program at SRRC. She loves seeing all the young talent come through the club and go on to do great things, whether it be on or off the water.

Simone’s favourite rower is none other than Jacqueline Swick, who is seated in the Women’s Eight. Swick is a proud member of the SRRC and won an historic gold medal at the World Rowing Cup 3 in 2022 as a part of the Women’s Eight.
